Jazz para cozinhar, trabalhar, relaxar e...

Formado em 1956, o Miles Davis Quintet , através de suas várias formações, entrou para a história do jazz. Pra se ter uma idéia dos talentos envolvidos, inicialmente o quinteto/sexteto contava com o saxofonista John Coltrane, o pianista Red Garland, o contrabaixista Paul Chambers e o baterista Philly Joe Jones, e foi esta formação que lançou pela Prestige a série de discos intitulados Relaxin', Workin', Steamin', e Cookin'.

O grupo passou por diversas mudanças depois disso. Já em 1959, Red Garland foi substituído por Bill Evans e Wynton Kelly, que se revezavam ao piano, e Jones cedeu o lugar a Jimmy Cobb, formando assim o sexteto que gravou um dos discos mais cult do jazz de todos os tempos, Kind of Blue.
